Default Sorry newbie question

I tried to search for this but could not find the right information i wnated. What are the "quad shocks" used for? Are they actually the rear shock or just a a steering stabillizer setup to keep the rear end on the ground during cornering? I am kind of confused.PLease Help!

Stabilazation-- due to the sub-frame set up. Get some sub-frame connectors, weld them on and you can get rid of those shocks if you ever decide to go with lowers/uppers etc...

They are "suppose" to also help reduce wheel-hop. (my car told me otherwise)

I think somebody put subframe connectors on my 91. It's got some 1x3 boxed steel connecting the front and rear. But it still has the quad shocks.
yeesh. I need to learn a lot more about this thing.
