Claying is totally worth it. It will remove all the contaminants in the paint. It will not do anything for the scratches. The clay will also make the finish totally smooth. To remove the scratches you would have to use aswirl/remover polish. When you clay you also have to use some kind of lubricant. I like to use a quick detailer. You can also mix up car wash and put it into a spray bottle for lubrication. Just make sure you use enough lube so you don't marr the paint. Just do a 2x2 section at a time and don't apply any pressure. You just let the clay glide over the surface. Once the clay starts getting dirty just knead it to a clean section and keep going. Pretty easy to do and will produce excellent results. Then follow with a polish to remove your scratches and swirls. Lastly use a sealant or wax or both to protect what you did in the previous steps.

You can get Clay Magic claybars at Autozone,Walmart, Target, etc. I carry a 4 oz. claybar made by Poorboys World that comes with its own storage container. It is currently on sale.

i JUST came in from doing this on our '66 Ford F-250...the paint seriously felt like sandpaper...

it took FOREVER and i'm still not completely done but its well worth it...it is taking about 3x longer than on my stang cuz there is just sooo much to take off...everyone who has come to my home the last couple days i take em out to the garage and have them feel the difference...its amazing.

i used the Mothers California....comes with wax/detailer/and clay bar(8 oz?)

Its well worth the 15 bucks.

Clay is the best thing since sliced bread.

The first time claying can take a little bit of effort if you have severe contaminant problems... if you do it once or twice a year, it shouldn't take more than a half hour to an hour (obviously, larger vehicles can take longer).

If you're not claying, you're not protecting your investment.

For those who are not familiar with clay, I like to recommend this insightful little video that Mothers did a few years back: Mothers Clay Bar Paint Saving System video

Yes you can use a claybar on your new car. You won't believe how much stuff is in the paint of a new car.

+100 on the clay bar. You're finish will feel insane once it's done. Smooth like you wouldn't believe. I use it on all my cars twice a year.
