Too much chrome?
Well, I'm basically starting to mod my mustang now that I've had it a while and sure I'm going to keep it. I've already ordered 18x9 Chrome S's all the way around, and here is my plan:
My car is a Laser Red '99 GT, with tinted windows, and here's what I'm thinking. Get the silver lettering for the "MUSTANG" on the rear bumper. Paint the brake calipers red. This will give me an all red/chrome exterior, with tinted windows, and maybe cleared headlights. As far as the interior, I'm thinking of ordering every chrome option you can get basically. From the Window controls to the Cruise Control and A/C *****, shifter etc. etc. Basically, ordering every chrome interior option that American Muscle offers
.
What I'd like to know does anyone think that's too much chrome? I think it would flow nicely with the chrome ascented exterior.
Thanks, sorry for the long post.

If you accent your interior with laser red, the chrome would probably be broken up enough to not be so blinding.
We took out my vents, the pieces behind the door handles, the piece around the radio and a/c, and the defrost vents (all of the smooth plastic inside), and took them to our body man. He sanded them down and actually painted them with screaming yellow Ford D6 paint and cleared them. Just be careful to tape off the part around the shifter or it won't line up right.
The yellow pieces on the charcoal interior really offset the chrome.

That sounds like a project I could do myself, the only thing I'm worried about is actually finding a color to match the Laser Red. Also, I've been looking, how do you get the peice around the A/C & Radio out? The vents and door panels you can just pop out, but dunno about the shifter boot - A/C peice.
Thanks

I fear that might be a little too much chrome. I think it might look a little tacky, but that's my opinion. I prefer the stock look on the insides of cars (not even a fan of most after-market stereo's, which is why I haven't done mine). I think the best way to do it, would be to order a little at a time. I know the shift **** will look good, but the window and AC controlls might not. But in the end, it's your stang, so do what you think you'll like!
If I remember right, take the shifter plate out and there's two screws below the radio. I know you have to take the shifter part out first. As far as popping it out, it helps to have one of those special tools - whatever they're called. I just used a flathead, but you have to careful not to break any of those wonderful plastic brackets.
As far as matching paint, I used actual car paint. The paint code is on the sticker inside the door and any paint store will have it.

I think I'm going to skip the painting. What I'm going to try to do is fabricate my own pieces out of aluminum for around the A/C. I know it sounds weird, but I'm pretty sure I can get it 99% to stock standards. All I'm worried about is if the aluminum will match the chrome. I'm pretty sure it will. If it doesn't work I can always just put the stock one back in. I'll post pics on the outcome
