washing (yes, another one...)
I live in Minnesota and it is about 40 degrees here. What would be the best way to go about washing my car? Our water is not turned on yet as it is winter...

I have been running mine through the high end car wash here to get the salk and stuff off.

Do you have a garage to wash it in?
I carry a product called Optimum No Rinse that is getting very popular. You just need 2 buckets of water, one with 2 capfuls of the No Rinse solution with 2 gallons of waterand another bucket for your rinse water. Use a chenille wash mitt or microfiber towel and wash a panel and then come back with a dry microfiber to dry that panel. You do that for every panel on the vehicle. This way you don't have to use a hose to rinse off and you won't have water spots or water running out of panels since your are drying it off at each panel.
The No Rinse won't scratch your paint since it has polymers to lift the dirt. I use this all of the time in my detailing business. I don't hardly ever use a hose anymore unless there is a lot of mud on the vehicle and then I pressure wash it of first and then proceed with the No Rinse. If been using it a lot this week on vehicles after it snowed. It saves a lot of time and works great. PM me if you have any questions.

I take mine to a do-it-yourself wash bay with hot-water pressure washers.
Just rinse it with hot water, rinse it with soapy water, then rinse it with hot water again (don't use the soap brushes at those places, they're full of sand and rocks and other bad things.) Also rinse off the underside of your car and in the wheel wells and everything as best you can, to keep the salt and stuff off of them.
Then take a towel or whatever and wipe off all the rubber seals and door jams and everything on the doors and trunk, and it won't freeze.
