How do you apply claybar?
I'd like some tips and advice from those of you who have used claybar. What is the best technique in applying it, cleaning it off, etc. Has anyone ever used it on black? Your experience is appreciated!
I usually will wet the area with the usually provided detail spray, then clay bar as much as I can keep wet. Things to keep in mind, be careful to NOT drop the clay bar, as it will pick up every spec of dirt, then use that to scratch the heck out of your car. Also don't use it in direct sunlight....although it's not going to hurt anything, it certainly makes the detail spray dry faster, and cause you to leave clay bar marks on the car, which are difficult to remove. After you've clay bar'd an area, wipe it clean with a soft rag.
It's really straight forward, after you get the hang of the detail spray, and it's amazing the difference you can feel on the car!

I've used the Zaino claybar in the past on a brand new car with great results. Just follow the directions to use a soap solution and use minimal pressure while gliding the bar over the surface of the car. You want to keep the surface of the car soaked with the soap solution under the bar to lubricate. You will fell the resistance on the paint surface fade away as the bar removes the contaminants and starts to glide more effortlessly. Keep stretching the bar and folding it into itself to expose a fresh area of clay. The whole car can be done in about 20 minutes.
just used claybar on my buddys new black GT-CS and it came out great. just use it like sandpaper side to side using long strokes and keep spraying it with detail wax spray. have to keep it wet and if it starts to dry just spray some more. after you clay bar use a micro soft towel and wipe it down and remove the film and then wax with a good wax. i use mequires NXT TECH WAX.

make sure to use PLENTY of lube as a clay bar is an abrasive
after you've "clayed" your car you will notice quite a few more swirl marks that "weren't there" before
the truth is they were there but just covered up
after wash clay is the first step in detailing a car to perfection
Well I've got a question on the subject.
I claybared for the first time yesterday. I used the mother's kit. I thought it went pretty well...though I could still feel some grittiness that was there before. It helped a lot, but I wasn't blown away.
After I clayed each section, I buffed VERY well with a microfiber.
Then, when I was done, I went through with another clean microfiber and spot buffed the whole car, then did a (However quick) wax job.
Thismorning my car had some sort of white residue on several body panels. (Shutup redass [8D]) Its weird because I know I had everything cleaned off yesterday.
