I was wondering what makes it so hard for a PC to burn the paint when polishing. Ive really been looking into getting one because I have some swerls and Im planing on selling the car soon and want it to look as good as posible.

The PC spins in an orbital motion and it doesn't hardly create any heat at all like a circular polisher. A circular polisher actually spins in a circular motion creating a lot of heat which can damage clearcoat real easy.

The Porter Cable polisher has a lot more power than the over the counter orbitals that are really just designed to apply wax or buff off product. It is almost impossible to hurt your paint with the PC and that is what makes it so popular. An inexperienced person can learn really quick and achieve great results. I highly recommend it!

Here is the link to the Porter Cable and kits on my site. http://www.obsessivedetail.com/buffer.html I have package deals that has everything needed to get started. You will need a backing plate to accomodate the differemt pads. Included in my kit are the PC,backing plate, orange light cutting pad, white polishing pad,and gray finishing pad. I also have kits with everything I listed plus the polishes/swirl removers.

I bought a PC kit from Justin (Juztang) and was a little nervous using it on my Saleen, I had heavy swirl marks from the cat jumping on the car cover, I used a white pad and Optimum Polish and didn’t take off much then I switched to an orange pad and after two tries I had a near mirror finish. Justin helped me out, answered all my questions and by being cautious, using non aggressive pads it took a little longer, but I felt better knowing I didn't damage anything and didn’t take off to much paint.

If you haven’t dealt with Justin you can trust that he will take care of you and back that up with great customer service.

As a side note the cat has been exiled outdoors.

I can totally relate to this statement. I am very **** in detailing my cars, but have never done more than the auto store buffer with wax. I bought my PC kit from Justin and followed his advise to a T (sans the clay bar step first) and the results were fantastic.

Buy one, and if you can use it first on your daily driver or a family members car of marginal value (like I did) to get comfortable with it. Once you do one car and see the results, you will be anxious to hit the stang with it

The PC is fairly simple to operate and gives amazing results! Throw in a claybar for the 1st step and it'll look amazing.

Juz...I'm thinking about purchasing your PC package. I have a lot of hard water spots and spiderweb scratches all over my black car. what do you recommend....as far as the best to get rid of all of it. I think I'd like to try the moose glaze i've read good things about it...is that just a polish or is it ansealant/wax? thanks for your help in advance.

Thats what I did with mine, I planed on testing it out with an '80 Olds but I was too excited and I pulled the stang in and followed Juztang's words closely. I started really conservative on the pad and compound, then as I was getting more comfortable with which products will do what...I started really going to town on it and before I knew it, I had a mirror finish with only 2 pads, 1 polish, and 1 scratch/swirl compund.

As far as I know, the glaze wont really help with the imperfections of the paint, just makes it look deeper and makes it feel 1000x smoother.

I had swirls, scuffs, sratches on my Black '03 and I baught the PC and got the (starter kit from Juztang) Orange pad with the Optimum compound and the White Pad with the PoorBoy's Pro Polish. Then I top that with a Grey Pad and Red Moose Glaze, then seal it in with PoorBoys sealant and top all of that with Natty's Blue paste wax a few times. Thenfinish it all up with Spray and Gloss.

Now it looks great, Black is an amazingly hard color to keep looking clean, but Juztang makes it alot easyer to work with.

I love the new layout of thesite too!

I would get either the Poorboy's or Optimum/PC package. Both will corret you waterspots and spiderweb scratches.

The ClearKote Vanilla Moose has light corrective abilities plus has fillers to hide any swirls you might have left over after polishing. The ClearKote Red Moose glaze is a pure glaze, it has no abrassives and will add a lot of wetness and depth to the paint.

Here is a combo that is really popular for your color:
Polish/Swirl Remover either Poorboy's or Optimum
ClearKote Red Moose Glaze
Poorboy's EX Sealant with Carnauba
Poorboy's Natty's blue paste wax or ClearKote Carnauba Wax

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore product questions.
