rotery question

Default rotery question

i want to polish out the swirl marks in my moms black BMW....
but i dont have the money at the moment for a porter cable. but i have a rotery that has 2 speeds.
low=2000
high=2500

how should i aply it so i dont burn the paint

Use a foam polishingpad.

mhm...dident think of that....guess ill have to do that.
but how long do u have hold the rotery in 1 spot to have it burn?

Man that is a lot of rpms to be using. 1800 rpm is the highest I ever go and that is on something that has terrible swirls and is in really bad shape. Most of the time you don't even need to go over 1500 rpms. You will also need to do your final polish between 900-1200 rpms.

well i have a 10v random orbital
but it boggs down when pressed on the car (im not smashing it on the car)
l will that be enof for minor scratchs and swirls?
but once i get the money im buying a porter cable (itz hard to get money when your 16 and jobless)

Never hold in one spot. Just keep it moving and it will turn out ok. You`ll get the hang of it.
