The wash before the wax
Just wondering what product everyone uses to clean before a wax. I usually use Turtle Wax soap, but today, I used some dish soap for added cleaning power, then I waxed with Meguiar's NXT wax.

Right now i'm using ONR by Optimum. When I wash the traditional way I'll use some DuraGloss 921. Its a great car shampoo. I've never read a bad post about it over on Autopia. Turtle wax makes some decent products. Personally I really like the TW Platinum line. I just picked up some of the Platinum car soap a few hours ago for $3 for 64 oz. Meguiars Gold Class and NXT soaps are some more I've always read good posts about. My favorite - DuraGloss 921.
Dish soap is really bad for your car....go back to the Turtle soap....then follow the following steps:
wash
clay
glaze
wax

dish soap will not hurt your cars paint it will just strip some of the wax off you just have to make sure you wax it if you use dish soap i would not suggest using it but people can do what they want
There is no need to use dish soap at all on a car. If you are going to polish that will clean your paint and prep it for your sealants or waxes. Dish soap can be harsh on your trim.
Yeah, they make them to make a buck!
I live in the desert and my car is black so I know a little about taking care of the outside and a little on the inside. Detergents will not affect the clear coat on the car but will strip the wax right off, making appear like a hazy film on the clear coat. Do not worry, just residue from the detergent. After you wash the car, I recommend you get some mcguiars or even yet nufinish once a year car polish, it has done wonders for all of the cars I have ever waxed with it, and some of the paintjobs on some of them have been pretty dull.
My opinion.
