Id you don't have the time to detail the car yourself then don't bother with it and have a place detail it for you. But if you are willing to try it and have a couple hours then go for it!! First of all you do not need a buffer. Yes it makes it easier and quicker but its not necessary!!
First - Wash and dry the car, most say out of direct sunlight but it depends on the products you are using. If you are using products like adams and poorboys you can wash in the sunlight and not have to worry about streaking and swirl marks.

Second- Use a plastic ziploc bag and put your hand inside. Run your hand (With the ziploc bag on it) across the car, if the car feels like sandpaper and is abbrasive then your next step should be to use a clay bar.

Third- Claybar if needed, make sure to fold the clay bar over everyonce in a while to avoid scratching the paint with the contaminents you are picking up

Fourth- Polish the car

Fifth- Apply the wax. Thin layers is the key, you dont want to much wax cause it will start to look uneven. I use two thin layers of wax when waxing my cars. Also depending on the type of wax you get it wont matter weather you wax in or out of sunlight. Most waxes you will buy in stores like meguiars and Turtle wax should be applied out of the sunm others like poorboys and adams can be applied in sunlight (just check the back of the bottle to make sure).

That is an easy detail if you want good results. If you really want to get into it even further than applying tire shine, and vinyl protectants (like VRT and back to black) or having detailing sprays to get into cracks and all. Just research, its not difficult, the biggest thing is just getting out there and doing it.

yah i have been told my car looks great and it really does. but a good buff would make it look that much better. i just dont have time to learn, hopefully ill talk to my friends dad and we can take care of buffing the car soon. i know about back to black and washing waxing and all but clay bars and buffing is something i have never done, not new, i just havent done it. i appreciate your help. let me know what waxes you use and if certain washes work better if they dont strip wax. also i was wondering after i buff it should i keep waxing it. just let me know al lthe products. I do love the new F21 interior detailing. thanks for your help.

Never tried F21 interior detailing, would love to know more about it!
I use all Adams Car Care Products. Their soap suds up real well and i havent had a problem with it stripping wax like other washes. Their Buttery wax goes on easy and comes off even easier! Great deep finish. Adamspolishes.com just check out there products!! Also one of our members has a buisness known as obsessivedetail.com they sell products from poorboys. I have heared nothing but good comments about poorboys products but have never tried them for myself. Hope this helps you and good luck with everything!

Zach

Check out my website for some great quality products. All of my products go on easy and come off easy with no residue. I now have my own lineup that is starting to get awesome reviews already!

Beachstang had all of the steps correct. I would also throw a glaze in the mix for a lot of wetness and depth to the paint.

If you have any product questions feel free to pm or e-mail me. I will be glad to help.
