I used to use Nu Finish back in the day, it wasn't good at all at removing scratches. Try what Cooter said or lay out some money for a good polish/glaze/sealant and you'll be happy.

When you use a product like Scratch X, can you use it just over the minor scratches or is it best to use it over the entire car or panel?

Also, can it be used over top of existing wax, or should all way be removed first before applying?

You can wax it w/a good reputable wax and high speed buff it off. Its risky(You can burn the paint). But if done right you'll probably do the whole car.

I was gonna post the same. I removed this stupid strip like a door guard on the side and I f****d up on the drivers side door. The scratches aren't deep enough that you can feel them with your nail, can that still be buffed out? I have white so I can hide it with wax, glaze and a polish. But I don't want to see it at all. Should I try Meguires Scratch X or buy a buffer?

Buy the buffer its a good investment just to have one lying around.

The Porter Cable is the way to go if you want to remove scratches and swirls and not have to worry about hurting the paint. The Poorboys Super Swirls Removers work excellent and the Optimum is works great but it is designed more for a novice.
