Default Detailing Help

Hey 'stang brothers and sisters: I am new to having "cool cars" and this is my first mustang. I had the simoniz put on when I bought the car and over the last year or so have unfortunatly gotten a few scrathces in the paint. I need some help with the whole waxing thing (kind, how to's, etc) What kind of buffing technique is best? Do some scratches "buff out" or are there other ways to get that great shine? If any of you have any tips for the interior also that would be great. I appreciate any and everyones help. Thanks.[sm=dontgetit.gif]

The best way to remove scratches and swirls is with a high speed polisher. The Porter Cable polisher is the way to go, you can get awesome results even being a beginner. You also don't have to worry about hurting your paint with it. You can also polish by hand but you will only be able to remove light scratches and swirls, anything else will require a high speed polisher to break down the polishes correctly and do the paint correction that is needed. Rule of thumb, if you can feel the scratches with your fingernail they won't come out.

I would recommend doing this process:
Wash
Claybar
Polish/Swirl Removal
Glaze
Sealant or Wax

This combination will really make your paint look its best. 90% of how the finish looks is in the prep stages, ex: claying, polishing, and swirl removal.

Check out my website for some high quality products that are really easy to use. All of my polishes, waxes, and sealants are sun friendly, easy on/easy off, and have no residue like many other brands. Let me know if you have any specific products questions, I will be glad to help out!

You can use everything that I mentioned. It will actually looks a lot better and give more depth, reflection and wetness to the paint.

I spent a good part of yesterday morning watching these videos. It's part "how-to", part marketing. Take the how-to and use your favorite products.

Seeing someone do it makes it a lot easier.
