Pay a shop to do it. Shouldn't cost much more than $200 for the install.

i just installed one on my 94 vert a few months ago. we done it ourselves and it took all combined about 3 whole days for 2 people to do it that have never done a top before. the guy at the upholstery shop told us that he would charge us 700 (includes top) and we got the top for about 350 so that would have been 350 installation. if you do decide to do it, you are gonna have to pull alot of staples and put them back. there are prob around 5-600 staples in the top. it isnt that hard, just really time consuming, and you might have to take it off and put it back on 2 or 3 times to get it just right. but make sure you pay attention to how it came off. this is my new top, it made the whole car look better.

That looks awesome! Did you have any instructions to go off of?? I want to do mine before spring, while the car is in 'hibernation'. Also, has anybody ever changed a convertible cylinder?? I need to do that, my top will try to go up on one side, but the other side stays down, I'm guessing it's the cylinder. I tried looking at my Chiltons to see if it gave instructions, but it only talks about replacing the Motor itself. Sorry 70351cmustang I don't mean to steal your thread, but It's hard to get a convertible question answered here...We should see if we can start a "convertible" specific FORUM.

we had some very basic instructions to go by, they werent specific to a mustang, just to any vert top, so they werent that detailed. i think that you can buy vhs/dvd's on the actual mustang install. we had to take the back off 2 or 3 times to get the wrinkles out. all you have to do is take your time and make sure you pay attention to how it came off.

I agree with SShadowSSin that we need a section for people with convertibles. I have thought about this too but was afraid to voice it.

If we had our own section, it would be a lot quicker to locate what we need. Most of the questions asked are usually repeats.

I have spent many evenings going through old threads which is ok because I usually learn something new along the way. But, yeah, a section for 'verts would definitely be appreciated.

hey, gotta get that done myself...have a small tear...prices range this area from 150 to 300 excluding labor. ill be checkin back to see on this one since i am thinking of doing it myself as well. i got a 1988 that i am restoring. body was excellent and pony interior was in great shape so ive been putterin on it for awhile. like others i would also like to see a specific place to find out about converts. i've had a lot of questions that couldn't be answered cause of the convertable issue.

I got mine installed, cost me just the deductible because of Hurricane damage. the total for labor and top was I believe 800 bucks. But they also cleaned my carpets and removed and replaced the padding underneath the carpet as well as in the trunk because of leakage. I can go find the bill and give you and exact cost if you want. They kept my car over the weekend because of the carpet needing to dry, but most likely they can install it for you ina matter of hours. Well worth it for me to have my car the same day than to spend 3 days learning how no to do it right the first 4 times.....
Lets get ourselves a Convertible Forum! Since I know ppl with Verts are lloking at this, let me ask what you guys are using to clean your tops.... I wanna keep my new one looking great.

I don't know if it was the right person to ask, but I wrote Administrator an e-mail asking about the Convertible Forum. Thanks for voicing your opinions about this, I think it would be really helpful to get a Convertible Specific Forum.
Emann0007, I bought my convertible top cleaner at the local AutoZone, I'm not sure what it's called, I will check on that and get back to you on it. But it's a white bottle, with a squeeze pump on top, like a windex bottle. The squeeze pump is Blue, and it has a picture of a mustang on the bottle. It didn't really work for me, but maybe I was using it wrong. I quit trying it when my top got a tear.
