how long does it take yall to detail your cars?
My first detail job was a 1995 Mustang Convertible that we bought in April. It was in horrendous condition, so we gutted the interior, which gave me the opportunity to thoroughly clean everything before reinstalling it. We had to replace the carpet and top. Before replacing the top, I washed, clayed, polished (with a pnuematic orbital), and waxed. It took me all day...probably 8 hours or so. Altogether with the interior I probably have 20+ hours into cleaning it up. Then I moved on to doing the exterior of my Mercedes 380SL. It was not in as bad of shape, so it went quicker than the Mustang. Then I moved on to bigger vehicles...my husband's 4door pick up took a whole weekend just for the exterior. It's a 2004 that had been used as a work truck by a heating contractor friend. I don't think it had been waxed other than the carwash spray wax since it rolled off the dealership lot. Oh, did I mention it is BLACK! I probably spent 16 hrs on the exterior and didn't even touch the interior of the truck bed. The last two weekends I spent doing my Yukon XL. It had been detailed when we bought it used 2 years ago, but only the car wash since then. It took two full weekends, about 26hrs combined. I washed, clayed, 2 steps of polish, and two coats of wax. I wiped down the interior, but didn't do the carpet. My hope was to get faster at this, but it seems the opposite is true....however the vehicles have gotten larger
When I did a complete detail, including gutting the interiorto clean the carpets etc, it took me about 3.5-4 hours to wash, wax, vacuum, shampoo the carpets, leather cleaner etc.
30min to 90mins no engine detail, just exterior and interior...any more than that and you'd better start sleeping with it cuz your wife (if you have one) will insist that you love that car more than her
