I have a Laser Red 02 and I've always thought about painting the rims to match the car and kind of doing a Red and Black car. Windows are tinted I was thinking about blacking out the tail lights too. I've been searching this forum for a while now and all I can find are people painting them black and sometimes white.

My real questions is how can I paint my rims laser red to match the car? Is it too much trouble?

I am a poor college kid and I can't really afford to buy new rims or to pay to have them done professionally ( i need books and food instead).

Let me know what you guys think.

 

yeah its too much trouble because laser red has a tinted clear coat; a professional would have to paint them and even then...it probably wouldnt match

 

... If you want it to match and do it yourself... forget it. Now if you wanted to paint them black, thats a different story, however there is lots of work time and money involved in paining alumninum properley unless they are already painted one particular colour.

I have been reading all the stuff about painting them black and I'm pretty sure I could manage that. It just seems like everyone paints them black. I want something a little more unique than black wheels. I guess it could look good though.

 

thats good that u want to be unique... try having someone photoshopping red rims on ur car to see what it would look like.. but i think red on red is TOO MUCH RED. Black on red looks agressive and clean... but its ultimately up to u... have fun with ur ride.

 

I would tend to agree, do something like the car in Roemy's post and go black with a red brake or something like that. The all red is a bit overkill, makes the car look like an eye sore in my opinion.

I'm thinking black probably would look the best now but i just wanted something unique/cheap/stylish. I already did paint my calipers red so that might be enough red. How do i go about getting someone to chop a picture for me? I can take one tomorrow. Do you think blacking out the tail lights with those vinyl strips looks good enough?

I know that there was a company that sold laser red 03/04 cobra style wheels, havent seen them in a while but I remember seeing them in a couple magazines. Try looking on the internet Im sure you can find them...
