Default Clay Bar

I just bought the mothers california gold clay bar kit and was planning on using it tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the full effect of this product? Also any things not to do with it...

Make sure you use plenty of clay lube. Let the claybar glide over the paint and don't apply any pressure at all. At first the paint will feel rough and when the paint feels really smooth it is time to move onto the next section. I also recommend breaking the claybar up into a few pieces. Use 1 piece on throw the extra ones into a ziplock baggy with some lube. The reason I break the pieces up is because if you accidentally drop the claybar it has to be thrown away, it is better just throwing away a small piece than the whole claybar. It is pretty easy to drop a bar too.

2000V6,
Sorry I cant help with the subject as, as of yet, I haven’t used the clay bar. However my stepsons 2004 40th Anniversary GT has a bad case of tree sap so I would be curious to know your findings.
I buffed it out once, but he continues to park it under the tree. (that’s because I wont park my 05 there :O) Anyway it needs doing because his car is Canary Yellow, and the sap is light brown…. Kinda gives it the freckle effect.
Please keep us posted and let us know how you get on.

I was absolutely amazed at how well the clay bar worked. I started in a section where I had some paint overspray, and the clay bar picked it right up. After doing a section I dried it and compared it to the part next to it, and it was like touching silk then sandpaper... what a difference. My tips would be to make sure you keep the section you are working on wet with the spray on detailer, make sure to be constantly turning and kneading the clay bar so a fresh portion is exposed. I divided up the claybay into two pieces and just used one on the whole car. This is a great product to use and i would highly recommend it to anyone. It makes your car silky smooth.

What exactly does the clay bar do? I've heard of them, but don't actually know what it's for.
