Default Washing engine bay

So record rain here in San Antonio has left my engine compartment filthy. I'm getting ready to put a CAI intake in but I want to wash down the engine bay first. What should I do first to be sure I don't fry something electrical etc. Any suggestions out there??? Thanks!

Dont do it while its running, dont use steam. You could probably cover the plug wires, and your air intake if it looks like water is going to get in there. I just use a regular water hose, a few different size brushes and some degreaser. The cleaner you keep the eng compartment, the less you will have to throughly clean it. Everytime i wash my car i give the eng a quick once over with some glass cleaner to make it look clean, rather then that greasy shine look.

i have yet to do this process yet but many members on here do thisyou cover up the fuse box the air filter and several other things and then you spray it down with degreaser and then some cd2 (got to auto zone and they have it) and then i believe you wipe down the bigger parts and then take a hose and rinse it all off

Welcome to the world of new cars... The only thing you used to have to worry about is coils getting soaked. Spray some degresser all over the engine. and presurre wash it. It will not hurt and you dont need to cover anything up. trust me.. I detail cars everyday including mustangs and it dosnt hurt to leave it running.
