Paint chip touch up.
Hello all. I have a 2000 black mustang and have a paint chip question for you. The previous owner applied some sort of black touch up paint to dozens of small places on the car in a rather sloppy, globbyfashion. The end result is a bunch of dried mounds of paint - noneare verybig and some are very small, but they do kind of stand out.Anyone have any suggestion as to how to sand them downor remove them to redothem so I can have a smooth surface? Or should I hand this over to a pro - and if so, what should I ask them to do and what would be a good price? Thanks.
I tried using touch-up paint on my car and it ended up looking like crap. But mine needed a new paint job anyway. I can't tell you anything about fixing the bad touch up spots, but I can tell you it cost me about $1500 to get my car painted. I would think that if you had a pro try and fix the touch up spots that you would have a bunch of spots of new paint surrounded by old paint. That's why I got my whole carpainted. I got a new bumber (Roush) and I didn't want to have a brand new bumber attached to a car with an old paint job.
Speaking of my new bumber, I got a rock chip at the bottom that is causing the paint to peel. Is it ok to use clear nail polish till I can get it fixed or is that myth?

Take a razor blade and bend it a little, making a slight curve on the blade. Use the blade to knock down the touch up paint globs. After knockig it down a bit, use rubbing compund on an old t shirt to blend it in. This is what I do on my car and is barely noticeable unless u look directly at the glob.
