Default Opti-seal......or wax??

Ok, I am after the wettest, most glossy look I can get. I own a 06 Torch Red GT, and have kept it washed religiously but am just now starting to appreciate the finer points in detailing. I have been researching here, and at obssessive detail but still have just a few questions.

1) Best car wash to use
2) Is spray detailer really necessary after hand drying (been using ultimate detailer by Meguires)
3) After washing and dryer what should be the next step (glaze??)
4) I have never waxed the car, since its garged and I keep it really clean, so would a wax be a better choice, or should I just use like 10 coats of opti-seal.

I store the car during the winter so I will have 3 months at least to do nothing other than dust it and apply opti-seal. What do you guys recommend. I know I want to use obssessive detail products, I guess I just need to know which ones would work best for me and in which order to use them. Thanks in advance guys. Cheers.

For your red I would do a 3 step for maximum wetness and depth. The products I recommend for this are Light Polish,Wet Glaze, and then Wet Wax. The combo will give a ton of wetness and depth plus protection. You could apply the Opti-Seal after this for even more gloss and depth but you don't absoulely need it. The Opti-Seal will offer great durability too.

If you are wanting to go with a conventional car wash you can't go wrong with the Optimum Car Wash. This foams like crazy and has a ton of lubrication. It also comes in a 32 oz. bottle.
I mainly use Optimum No Rinse. This saves a ton of time and makes washing so much more fun! You can also make a gallon of quick detailer or clay lube from the No Rinse. This product offers the most bang for the buck plus it works like it says.

You don't have to use a quick detailer after drying.

After you wash I would claybar the car if you haven't already. This will take out any embedded contaminants and leave the finish incredibly slick.

Now I would use the polish to bring out more shine and reflection, correct light swirls and scratches, and to prep the paint for the next steps. Now you can apply the glaze followed by the wax.

Feel free to contact me at 217-304-7294. I could probably talk you through everything a lot better over the phone.

So how exactly does a "no rinse" car wash work ?? Do you really not use water?

And Juztang, I will be calling this week to over the details. Thanks for the offer.

With the No Rinse you use 1 capful of solution (1 ounce) with 1 gallon of water. You dip your wash mitt into the solution and do a panel and then you dry right away with a microfiber towel. After each panel you rinse the mitt out in your solution and you keep doing this for the whole vehicle. You don't have to worry about getting waterspots or water running out of crevices. The ONR leaves a Rain X type effect on the windows and also gives a just waxed look. This method sounds kinda unorthodox but it really works, I mainly use this in my detailing business. The No Rinse encapsulates the dirt so it doesn't scratch the paint. I even use this on black vehicles with no marring or scratches.

Wow, that does sound very strange, just goes against everything I thought I knew about washing a car. And you don't have to presoak the vehicle either huh? Let's say I couldn't get past the no rinse thing, but still wanted to use the product for the "just waxed look". Could I use the no rinse....but still rinse just for obsessive compulsive reasons without messing things up.

So for the ultimate wet look
1) No rinse car wash
2) OD Light polish
3) OD wet glaze
4) OD wet wax (how many layers??)
5) And then opti-seal...optional.

Did I follow you guys right?

Nope you don't have to presoak if you are going to use the No Rinse. You don't have to use it to get that wet look. You can just subsitute a regular wash like Optimum Car Wash instead if you wanted.

All of the step you listed are correct. You can put as many layers of wax as you want. I think 2 layers will be fine. Then if you wanted to you can put the Opti Seal on top of that. Any time you want to make the paint pop you can put another layer of Wet Glaze. The good thing about this glaze is that you can top it or put it on as your final layer, it also adds its own protection too.

ok this sounds cool but i have a question. doesn't rinsing off the soap/before you wipe with the micro fiber towel remove left over dirt/debris?
