u can use pipe cleaners ( the thin wire covered in fuzzy stuff) or a brush that is shaped like a cylinder and has all sorts of plastic bristles, u can usually find them near the fish tank sections at pet stores, used to clean some air pump tubes on tanks
What I usually do with vents is spray whatever you use to clean the vinyl (Armoral, Meguires, ect.) right into the vents. Then, use an air hose, or can of compressed air and blow them out. That way, it gets into all the corners and places that a q-tip or pipe cleaner might miss.
I worked at a car wash for 2 years. Spray Some type of solvent into the vent, and use high pressure air to spray solvent around...or use a solvent and a "green pad" (3M). Simple green workes nicely.
