Default RE: engine

The All Purpose Cleaner that I carry won't harm your engine. I've used it on a lot of engines with chrome and polished parts. For engines with light dirt I would dilute it 10:1 and for dirtier engines you can make it a little stronger. Just spray it on and let it dwell for a few minutes and then hose it off with a light stream of water. I've been using Stoner Trim Shine a lot lately in the engine bay after cleaning, it works great for all of the plastic pieces. Pretty much givesa nice clean factory look and doesn't attract a lot of dust. I basically just spray this on after I hose the engine off, then I spray on the Trim Shine and turn the engine on and let it run for about 5 minutes with the hood shut. Everything will dry to a nice clean finish.

For your chrome and polished pieces you should check out my Metal Rx, it will polish and clean the pieces plus leave a layer of protection behind.
