Default Should I wax? Why?

Im out in california with a fresh paint job on a 67. (I let the paint sit for over a year) I have been told by many that wax is a waist out here and not to use it because it will just build up over time. My ride will always be inside and re-polished after it is driven. My question is would I benifit or see a difference from using wax or should I just contine to use polish (show glaze)? Thanks guys!

Heres what I would do if I was you.

I would wash the car and then clay bar it to remove any embedded contaminants. There will be a ton of them since you have ran the car for a year without any protection. This will also leave the paint as smooth as glass. After that you can top it with the glaze that you have. Finally top it with some Optimum Opti-Seal. This stuff is extremely quick and easy to use, it can be found at www.obsessivedetail.com. If you're looking for something over the counter, then I'd suggest Meguiar's NXT Paste wax. It's worked pretty good for me in the past.

You'll likely need to polish it after clay-barring the car. Polishing your car after everytime you drive it is overkill and will likely cause your paint to wear out much sooner then you'd like it to. A wax or sealant is great for you car, itadds shine, depth, and gloss. It also protects the finish against contaminates and oxidation. Not to mention it blocks out UV exposure. Also, if you wax your car every couple weeks with a descent wax you may eventually get some build up. But just use a body work cleanser or a alcohol/water mix wipe down and that will remove old wax and leave a fresh finish to start from. Also is someone tells you that it's a waste of time to wax a vehicle they're an idiot. Stop asking them for car advice immediately because they have no clue what they're talking about.
