Default Restoring microfiber towels

A while back I read a post mentioning boiling old microfiber towels as a way to restore them to a usable state. A few other people agreed with the idea and said they had done it before.

I have a handful of towels that are gunked up with carnuba wax (helped my dad clean up his truck, big mistake on my part :P ) I kept them submerged in boiling water for a few minutes each, using clean water for each towel, then ran them through the wash and dried them. Now instead of just having a some areas that are builtup with wax the entire towel feels 'clogged' and rough. Did I do it wrong? Is this generally a bad idea?

I'll probably try again tomorrow and leave them in longer this time. It seems to have worked to an extent, but not entirely. It's almost not worth the effort given how cheap the towels are, but I was bored and it seemed like a fun experiment

I've actually boiled towels quite a few times before and it worked really well. It got rid of all of the buildup.

The ones at Sams are a good all purpose towel. I can see throwing those away and getting new ones. For the people that are buying higher quality towels that cost quite a bit more money boiling them is really worth it.

SO how does this work...I need it broken down purple dinosaur style...boil the water, insert towel, wax melts off, and then....let water cool, scrape wax, remove towel?
