Default Hey JuzTang

So how do your wax/polish products compare to those of mothers & meguires? I have used those other brands for YEARS but since I have been on this board, everyone raves about your sauce.

Im always up for trying something new but when im dealing with my classic I'm very nervous especially when nobody has heard of this stuff before. Please sell me. IMO my rides look quite good with great depth in gloss with what I have currently been using.

Im working with an
07 chevy Avalanche (only use meguires NXT products after rubbing the car out with 3m products)

67 mustang (only used 3m to rubit out and mothers wax/polish/sealer)

Make the switch. I'm happy with ObsessiveDetail brand products. I've tried every one of them and havent been disappointed. Its the only line i've ever bought every product in the line.I've used so many products over the last two years and Obsessive Detail products with compete with any of them.

I used Megiuars for several years and then I started trying out the boutique brands like Poorboys and Optimum. I was actually using the products before I started carrying them. All of my products are easy on/easy off with no residue. Most of them can even be used in the direct sunlight and still come off with ease.

I also do a lot of show cars and use all of these same products on there. Many of the show cars are 'best of shows" or get "best paint" awards. I guarantee once you try the products out you won't go back to what you were using.

I'm also always here to help you out if you have any questions. I take great pride in my customer service and do everything possible to help out and make my customers completely happy. Give the products a try, you won't be dissappointed!

Hey rst - I was once like you. I only used the store bought brands such as Megs and Mothers and always ingnored the boutique brands that you see at the big shows. Then I met Justin at a show and tried some of his stuff and have slowly been switching nearly everything to his products. So far everything he has sold me on has been true to his word. The products spread nicely...a little goes a long way....and they wipe off very easy with no dusting and minimal residue on trim and such. I can confindently say buy his products and you will not be disappointed.

I use the Optimum Compound & Polish, his personal branded Wet Wax, the Poor Boys quick detailer and a few other things he has sold me on. Just a very nice & honest person...I wouldn't hesitate to refer anybody to him.

Justin, I take PayPal if you want to send my $25 now for the plug....JUST KIDDING [8D]

Well then I have always used the 3 steps with a machine polisherwhen I get down to serious cleaning. For my67 I believe in lots of Polish andGlaze vrs. Wax since there is zero fiber glass. I havealways understood that if you want results that show, its going to take some hard work. I also like using layers to enhance depth and gloss and hide tiny scratches.

Which products do you suggest for me and how do they differ or stand apart from what im using.

As you know the first thing you want to do is wash the vehicle. A product that I mainly use is Optimum No Rinse. This product is getting very popular. With the No Rinse you only need 1 ounce of product with 1 gallon of water. The No Rinse will leave the paint looking like it has just been waxed and very slick feeling. Also 6 ounces of No Rinse will make a gallon of quick detailer, you can use it as a clay lube as well. This product is a great bang for the buck!

Now you are ready to clay. I carry 2 claybars right now, a 4 oz. and a huge 8 oz. These are poly elastic clay which are really flexible and easy to use. They are completely safe for the paint and won't scratch or mar.

After washing and clayiing I would start out with my Light Polish, this will clean, bring out more shine and reflection, plus remove light scratches and swirls. This polish is super easy to use, it is goes on easy and has no residue at all.

Next I would add my Wet Glaze to add a lot of depth and wetness. This glaze also has its own protection, you can put this before a wax or sealant or on top. I like to put it on top before car shows to give the paint that extra pop. This is also an acrylic glaze, so a sealant can be applied over it and band correctly. Most glazes have a ton of oils and a sealant won't bond to it.

For a good carnauba you can't go wrong with my Wet Wax or Poorboys Natty's blue. Both of these go on and off easy and will add even more depth and wetness. The Wet Wax is a liquid and the Natty's is a paste, it is just personal preference really.

If you are looking for a good sealant that can be put on before or after a wax the Optimum Opti Seal is the way to go. Most sealants will not bond over a wax. Opti Seal is a wipe on and walk away product, there is no need to buff off because it dissappears. This will add a lot of durability plus add a lot of gloss and some more wetness. You can do a car in about 5 minutes with the OS too!

This combo is what I have on my Saleen right now and it just looks plain awesome.

If you haven't looked at my selection of microfibers you should check them out. The microfibers that I carry are all high quality 70/30 grade. My favorite is the Ultra Premium, it is really thick and plush, you can use this as a drying towel or to buff off products. Another towel that is really popular is the Amazing Dryer, this holds 10 times its weight in water and it just plain huge!

Hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks it gives me a bunch to check up on. This No Rinse stuff sounds great! How strong of a cleaner is it though? Will it leave a freshly waxed car looking like it needs to be re-touched to hide the fine scratches like other washes? God knows I love to work on my car but I absolutely hate washing my car because it usually turns into a huge product with water in the cracks / crevices / door jams followed by the polish and waxing.

I honestly bought my 07 Avalanche in November of 06 and have only washed it 3x (California Garage Car) I usually maintain it with the NXT detailer by meguires and the occasional spray wax to give the paint a boost after some heavy driving. The paint is still smooth as silk with great gloss, do you think I would still need to clay bar? I did clay bar when I first brought the car home. (the color is sunburst metallic orange II) What do you have as a quick detailer which is a good match with your wax?

For my 67 mustang it never is outside long enough to use a wash or major cleaning at this point. Its garaged with a cover 6 out of the 7 days of the week. When im looking to shine and polish it up I use Mothers Gold Pure Carnuba (paste), Mothers Reflections Top Coat, and occasional show time detailer for those evil puddles. Whats comparable to what im doing here? Or is there something im doing wrong?(the paint job is 1 year old and is sunburst metallic orange)

Thanks for the options (and yes its time for me to re-order this is why im hounding you)

The No Rinse can actually take the place of conventional washing. It won't hurt the wax you already have on the vehicle, it will actually prolong it with the polymers that are in it. Also with the No Rinse you don't have to worry about water dripping out of crevices or getting waterspots since you do a panel at a time and dry off.

About claying the Avalance, I would do the claybar baggy test. Wash it as normal so it is clean, then put your hand in the baggy and run it across the paint, if it needs clayed it will feel rough.

Honestly I'm not too familiar with Mother Products. I've only personally used their quick detailer and Metal polish.

Mother Carnauba Gold Paste - Poorboy's Natty's blue paste
Mothers Reflection Top Coat- Optimum Opti Seal or OD Hyper Shine Sealant
Mothers Quick Detailer- OD Fast Shine or Waterless Wash W/Carnauba

Are you using your Mothers products in that order listed? If so, you want to put the sealant on before the wax because you will get bonding issues.

You aren't hounding me at all. I would rather you get the products you need for your specific needs and be completely happy if you did make a purchase. Feel free to ask away. You can also contact me over the phone, whatever works best for you.

I actually put it on before and after the wax for an extra layer. This is what they said about the product and why I have done it for years. Is your top coat only to be used before wax?

This is from Mothers: About the Reflections Top Coat
In many forums, you’ll find tips on surface enhancement from people who have experimented with layering products to deepen the shine of their favorite wax. For those who want the ultimate finish, there are never too many steps in the detailing process. Mothers took a cue from these guys when they developed Reflections Advanced Top Coat.

After the wash, the pre-wax cleanser, and the wax, Top Coat pushes your finish to its glossy limits by further enhancing your wax coat. Applied directly on top of the wax, it deepens the multifaceted shine achieved by a high quality wax. Extra protection in the formula extends the life of your wax so you wax less often and your finish stays in pristine condition. Natural waxes and modern chemistry combine to give your paint the ultimate high-gloss finish.

Top Coat can be applied over any wax, sealant, or glaze to amplify its effects. It contains no cleaners and will not disturb the wax underneath. Oftentimes, enthusiastic detailers layer waxes without realizing that some have cleaners that will remove previous coats. Top Coat sits on top of the wax to give it an additional layer of shine, protection, and gloss.

Oh ok, my Hyper Shine Sealant can only go on before a wax for it to bond and cure right. The Opti Seal Sealant can be put on before or after a wax. I didn't realize the Mothers Sealant was the same way.
