Mods to come on the 88 Hatchback...
Hey guys. I have a 1988 Mustang Hatchback, automatic transmission. It was purchased for around $500, and is just short of running condition.
It is undergoing maintenance right now to bring it back to running condition; after this is completed, I am throwing a load of mods at it. It's not a 5.0, and I'm not particularly concerned with speed; I simply want it to look good. I am interested in yall's opinions on my planned mods - let me know what you think. I'll probably end up sinking around $1500 on all these mods.
Linked is a photo of the car in its current state, and a collage of photos of the planned mods, for a visual reference.
Most of the mods are simple cosmetic mods, with a few exceptions. The chrome parts are intended as accents to match the silver stripes.
-Having the car painted black with silver stripes (hence the username)
-Redoing the interior from the current blue to black with silver trim
-Replacing the door panels and door handles (both currently damaged in some way)
-5-point harnesses for front seats
-Chrome door handle bezels
-Chrome door sill plates
-Chrome emergency brake handle
-Black casing headlights (see photo)
-Smoked altezza taillights
-Chrome A/C *****
-Chrome lock pins
-Chrome shifter bezel
-Chrome AOD shifter T-handle
-Chrome window switch plates
-Pioneer AVIC N1 stereo system with backup camera installed
-Custom license plate - not sure of wording though. Ideas?
More perhaps to come, depending on what catches my eye. Photos:

I've always liked the look of the 93 Cobra wheels on those cars. New wheels n tires and a lowered stance would look really nice and really change the look of the car. It still looks in great condition to be nearly a decade old.

don't buy appearance mods dude....make it go faster

If it was a 5.0, I would likely go that route. But since it's not, it doesn't make sense to attempt to make it faster. A 5.0 engine is roughly around $3000 (so I'm told) and that's more money than I prefer to spend..even after the three grand, it would be fast but look rather queer.
In my opinion, since it's not a 5.0, trying to make it as fast as one would be analogous to trying to soup up a Nerf ball to a regulation ball's performance.

This car is silver but these are the wheels i was talking about.
Also check out American Racing Torq Thrust II"s. Those wheels look good on anything. Really nice, classic look to it.

I dont think you'd go wrong with either one. The Torq Thrust II's would look good. The only problem you'd run into is, those are 5 lug wheels. So you'd have to get new axles and spindles/rotors to put them on your car. The Cobra wheels would look good. You dont see them too much. I've seen them in 5.0 magazine on a dark blue LX 5.0 and it was just a great looking car. Nice look to it. Get some wheels though. They'll really change the look of your car. Let us know what you do
Well, since I'm leaning towards the Cobras anyway, and given the extra cost involved in replacing the axle and such, I'll probably stick with the Cobras.
I can picture them now..WooT!
