Default Engine detailing

Hey guys I was curious as to what products I could use to clean my engine? The metal parts are oxidized and I want to make it look good. What type of detergent do you use to wash it? Do you use a hose or power washer? After washing what do you polish it with? I have seen some people use WD-40 and it looks awesome. Please give me your opinions...

Thanks

you should try to stay away form the pressure washer it can do some damage if you get water in the wrong spot a hose would be safer since you have a little more control of the direction of the water

tire foam will work but it tends to attract dirt and dust you would be better of useing an engine detailer like CD2

Simple Green is good for degreasing, and then use a garden hose on very light pressure to clean it off. High pressure water and electrical/mechanical components don't mix. Tire polish and Mother's Back to Black should help shine up some of those dull looking areas too. If you have any battery acid on the connectors use baking soda and be sure not to get any of the acid on yourself or the paint.
