Default Trim Questions

Hi! I've got a problem I've not heard of before... my black trim seems to be flaking. The color underneath is black, too, so it's not the terrible tragedy it could be, but it's really starting to look kind of bad. This is an '06 that's outdoors all the time. I don't know whether to scrub it to take all the flakes off, pray really hard it doesn't get worse, or what?! It's only in one area, but it's a pretty good sized area.

Also, I've tried several different products on the trim, and after a day or two, it looks like I never even did the trim. Is that normal? It seems like these products used to work better than they do now. Do I need to keep doing it several days in a row until it "soaks" in or something? Justin, weigh in please... you know I'm itching to purchase something real soon

Thanks!

Default RE: Trim Questions

That is odd that there is stuff flaking off on your trim. Usually it fades and dries out. If trim gets really dried out it usually takes multiple applications of product to do the job. I've done a few plastics where I actually had to put around 6 coats because it kept abosorbing all of the product up. Once the trim has all of the moisture back and it is restored it is a lot easier to keep up. I recommend doing it about everytime you wax.
