I have an85 mustang LX, that I believe has the origianl sunroof, whch needs a new seal, on the glass. Inasmuch as I do not want to break or chip the glass, does anyone have experience at removing the metal ring that holds the seal in place? I would appreciate any guidance as to the replacement procedure. Thank you, Michael

 

Pictures would be helpful. I would call a Ford dealer and ask for Parts. Have them look up and order the seal for you and then if you are skeptical take it to a place that specializes in sunroofs to either show you the trick or do it for you....could be cheaper than having to put in a whole new sunroof if you break it []

If the sunroof is small and a perfect rectangle in shape with rounded corners then it is aftermarket. The stock sunroofs were rather large and the front edge countoured with the top edge of the roof/windsheild line - so that may help you determine if its original or aftermarket.
