When the seats see the sun...
JUST got my 2k5 mustang convertible and for the first time in my life i have leather seats... i totally asume that the exposure is gonna mess up the leather over time... any ideas as to products i can use to protect the leather upholstery? what do you guys use? what to stay away from?

My mom used to use some leather protectant to help the wear and tear on her Sebring vert. The seats were still nice when she sold it about a year and a half ago and it was a 97 or 98.
I don't know if there's anything more than that I guess just don't leave the car outside with the top down in the sun all day if you're not riding in it... limit the exposure if you can.
As for leather protectant, I don't recall what my mom used-- most likely just generic stuff. I would go with something like Meguiars though, they tend to have the best products. I love their car wash products and waxes.

Just park it in the garage and in shady areas. I would invest in some window tint and a windshield guard. Other than that I wouldnt put anything on your seats yet because they are brand new. I'd wait a year and then put some protectant on. Leather does buckle and become loose over time, then it will start to crack, thats when you really need the leather care stuff, but thats after a couple of years. Just leave it alone for now and wait a year, at least until the new car smell is gone, then worry about the seats getting messed up...
I went to an upholstery place and asked the same questions about my seats. He recommended Lexlor or something like that. I think that's the name of the product. Someone here p.m.d me or put that on a post so I think it's a good product.
The person also said you didn't have to do it very often, maybe twice a year. I was relieved because I thought you had to do it more frequently.

I used Meguiar's Gold Class Leather wipes on my Audi for years and really liked it. Just recently purchased them again for my 04 Mustang, I also agree with waiting for about a year before using anything like this.
