Default need some advice

Well I have been lax posting since I signed up and said HI! I really wish my first question was concerning something cooler like what type of wheels should I choose or I am installing a new headunit and what do you guys think. Instead I am asking for some advice:

OK so on Saturday I did some running around got back home around 2:00. It was kind of warm so I thought "You know it is nice today and I think when it starts to cool down I will wash and wax the car". Get outside around 7:00 to wash the car and discovered that the DORK next door decided to stain the fence and they used a spray gun (in the wind no less) to apply the stain. Guess who's car was on the other side of the fence.

I was fuming so bad trying to control myself because I think I would have physically hurt her if I did not just walked into the house and proceed to swear up a storm.

On Sunday I did wash the stang and then try to use mothers cleaner and wax on the trunk. It did nothing to take it off. Everyone says I should tell her she made a very big mistake and that she needs to coordinate for homeowners to cover it and get it taken care of. I really want to try and clay it before that or test it somewhere to see if I could just save the headache from fighting with her.

What I need to know is if everyone thinks that the clay would take care of this. It would be the second time in 3 months I have clayed. It looked so good before this happened and quite frankly I am kinda in shock right now. I have never gotten along with this pertson and think it will be a fight all the way since I never saw her with the paint gun although the smell and signs of the stain is def present. If you looked at the car and saw it you would come to the same conclusion I have. GOD this SUCKS.

LEt me know what you guys think of trying the clay if it would even make sense to try.

I would try the claybar as soon as possible. The longer the stain cures the harder it is going to be to get off.

I would definately INFORM your careless neighbor about what has happened to your car. Let them know that "I'm not that upset about what happened to my car, and that I'm going to try the cheapest solution possible to fix the overspray problem first." BUT ...if that doesn't work, I would ask the person to make things right.

Definately inform the person of what happened. What if they are planning a second coat of stain on the next sunny day and your car is still there?

+1 on claying asap.

Well thanks for the advice. I did clay the stang last evening and think that I got just about 95% of it off. There is still some areas that I saw this morning that have the overspray on it, but not nearly at the level it was. I could not believe it. I have clayed the car once before and it was easy, what I went through last night was really tougher than I expected. It was like a fine sheet of glue that was coated on and bumpy. When I started it was like scroosh, scroosh across a section and took quite a bit before the noise went away after I made many passes over the area. The clay is truely amazing, and leaves a very nice smooth finish to the touch. I just wish I could do it more often, but am afraid of hurting the clear coat.

I am going to wash the car again today and apply several coats of wax (only applied one coat about 4 weeks ago), I am hoping that multiple coats layered will give more protection. Would this be the correct way of thinking?

Right now I am glad (tired as I was up late doing this in the dark with only a spotlight) that the issue has been somewhat resolved.

BTW I did go investigate the work she had done on the fence, it appears that she only got a 30ft section done (and it was light). So this would lead me to believe that she is going to come back and not only redo what she has done but finish the job.

We are taking a trip this week and the wife wanted to take the truck, I pleaded with her to take the mustang since I would go ballistic if I came home and the car was sprayed again.

BTW the truck got sprayed as well, but for some reason the stain spots are coming off quite easily with only a wax cleaner. Guess the Mustang was in the absolute worst spot possible when the spraying was done. Either that or the truck was so filthy with dust and dirt that the overspray adhered to most of that and not the paint. I don't seem to take care of the truck quite as well as I do the mustang.

You still need to take a walk next door and explain to your neighbor that when she sprayed the fence, she sprayed your vehicles. Just ask her to let you know the next time she plans to paint so that you can move your vehicles first.

Congrats on getting it cleaned up.

You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't go and tell her what happened!

As much as I hate conflict, you've got to say something or stupid shhht will continue and
the only person to blame will be yourself.

God only knows what would be next. Maybe cleaning said fence with some strong chemicals!! [&:]
