Some waxing questions..
It's been a whiiiillllllllle since I have had a vehicle that I gave a sh.t enough to clay, wax, etc... so I am a bit rusty...
Living in a condo, I don't have the luxury or practicality of washing my car myself every week. I know the automated car washes are not the best , but I think that applies more to the ones with brushes... What about the brushless car washes? Will the pressure of that water just eat away the wax in a short period of time? Or maybe the soap they use? I want to clay / wax my car, but if I am going to loose the wax in a short period of time, that's not too good.
How long should I expect the wax to stay on there? I don't have the time to be waxing every month...
tks

Touchfree isn't going to remove the dirt and grime that clings to your paint. It'll get all the loose stuff off. If you use touch free, never get out and hand dry your car. I guarentee you'll leave a million swirls and scratches in your paint.
You need to pick yourself up a clay bar and buy yourself a paint sealant. Optimum Opti-Seal is a wipe-on sealant that requires no buffing, it 'evaporates'. Sealants offer double or triple the lifetime & protection of waxes. It's a 'little' pricey, but considering that it lasts FOREVER, it's really an awesome value.
You can layer it too, so if you have washed your car and you have an extra 10 minutes, you can apply another coat and just prolong the life of the sealant again. Most waxes last 2-4 weeks, some claim 6 weeks but with a dark colored car you can expect it to evaporate from your paint especially if it's not garaged.
You should try a car wash called Optimum No Rinse. I use it when I'm pinched for time. You need 1 bucket of No Rinse water & another bucket to rinse your wash mit in. You gently wipe your No Rinse treated wash mit on the car, dry the panel with a microfiber, rinse your mit in the rinse bucket good and move on. No hose required & it goes a LOT quicker than the traditional way of washing your car. You can pour your buckets down the sink drain too, so you won't be annoying your uppity neighbors with puddles everywhere.
