Thank you for not asking what the "best" wax is...
I've been using the Turtle Wax ICE product line and am very pleased with it. The wax is a polymer and can be applied on rubber and black plactics (like our side view mirrors). It's relatively easy to apply and the detailer spray is a nice touch-up after washing.

Stay as far away from the Turtle Wax Ice as you can. That stuff make all cars look dull. When you wax a vehicle, you want the paint toshine, not the product you put on it. ICE tends to look like it is off the paint an a hazzy not real shine. If you want to use a good all around product then Mothers is great and makes your car look really good. The reality is you are best off taking the extra time to prep the car properly ie... clay bar. Then go over the car with a nice high quality product. I always try every product that I find and found that the best shine comes from the Zymol line. This is expensive but if you feel you just have the average car then you can use an average wax. If you really like your car and feel that you have something a little or a lot above average, spend the money/time and do it right. My daily driver continually wins at these shows because of the time and products that I use. Good luck with you car.

yes...but when you use a clay bar, you need to buff and polish the car .. then wax...because clay does have abrasives in it and, thats how it gets all the impurities of your car. So it does leave sume buffable scratches. A clay bar does leave your car feeling like glass. But if you have a white car, the scatches do not show as much, so it might not be as noticeable. Zymol is a great product if you have the money. im not a turtle wax fan much either but i do like the ICE line of products. bottom line try something you think might be good, if you dont like try something else...so many people likea variety ofthings, use what makes you happy, and tell us what u think. good luck.
I agree with the clay bar and all, but personally, I think everybody gets too worked up about wax. I've tried nearly all of them and I don't ever SEE a difference. The only differences I can tell is how long between having to wax the car. Any of your commonly known brands are going to be fine to go with, I just usually go with the cheapest or easiest to apply. I just don't see spending tons of money on a wax when you can get the same thing a lot less. I've tried Zaino and couldn't tell a difference from mequiars or turtle wax as far as how it made my car "look". All I noticed was a big chunk taken out of my bank account. Don't waste the money. Just my opinion.
I gotta use my statement once more. If you feel that you have the average car then use an average wax. I you feel that you have something special or above average then use a wax that will set it off. I hear it all the time that all waxes are about the same. That could not be further from the truth.
My point here is no wax not even the $8000 zymol wax will look good without the proper prep. Really any wax will shine with the proper prep but why waste your time with the prep if you are just putting on turtle wax paste or ICE. By asking the question about what we use on our cars it shows that you are at least thinking about it. Try the ice on your car. Then look at it and see if the shine looks like it is coming from the paint or if it is a hazy look on top of your paint. You will see.
I have been professionally detailing cars and motorcycles for 22 years and have used it all. NuFinish used to be the worst product on the market but has since been passed by this ICE. Like I said above you do not have to spend a lot to get a good shine but if you want a great shine then you need to Pony up the cash.
Side note. With a clay bar, you may need to buff but if you use a light clay bar (Low abbrasive) then you should be fine on all colors but black.

I take extreme care of my 2005 Torch Red, and really like a carnauba wax to bring out the depth. Don't get me wrong, a synthetic wax like NXT or Klasse has it's place, and I use Klasse All-in-One on my black Subaru that sees the harsh new england winters. [8D]
I've had really good luck with products from our site sponsor, Obsessive Detail. I've posted these pictures before, but they really show the difference a nice carnauba wax can make:

Margarita Girl,
Thanks for the info; I have a Mothers clay bar setup that I just purchased. Would that be similar to the meguiars? I have heard of different abrasive in the clay?? I just am trying to avoid swirl marks, and such. Where do I find the obsessive products? Thanks in advance.
