Obsessive Detail Help
Im planning my yearly road trip from California to Colorado and back(2400 miles all together). Last year at the half way points I would stop and quick detail my 07 Avalanche with Maguires NXT quick detailer. (Im using the NXT system on the truck)
Honestly it was a PITA because of all the bugs and took about 30 mins to clean up the paint and windows but it did not get all the bugs off the front.
It did come out fine with some elbow grease but a little too much work to have the car thrashed in another 600 miles.
This year I want to try a new combo that I think would make things easy and still look good. Let me know what you think of my combo and make a few suggestions PLEASE. Remember this is just for on the road and around town for the week im out there. (dont forget about the bugs)
I leave next Thursday night, how long does shipping usually take? 93003
Im thinking :
Optimum No Rinse Wash
Obsessive Detail Waterless Wash + Carnauba

the optimum no rinse(ONR) is normally used as an actual car wash. it can be made into a quick detailer though. the waterless wash is basically a quick detailer with wax in it. if you plan on taking a wash bucket and MF cloths and a drying towel with you, then im sure you could use the ONR by stealing a gallon or so of water from the gas station water spigot. what i would suggest to you is to put a very good coat of wax on your front bumper and hood (anywhere the bugs hit). that way, every time you stop to get gas or w/e you can hit those spots with the quick detailer and the bugs should come right off with little effort. but, i have both of the products you mentioned from obsessivedetail and i love them. his shipping is extremely fast, and the customer service is great.
I might stop at a coin-op and blow the car off. This could help serve 2 purposes.
1. blow some of the bugs and road film or whatever off the car before you ONR it.
2. Fill up your bucket while your there to ONR the car.
I stop at the local coin-op and blow my car off, drive home and then ONR it during the winter.
Anything I can do to decrease the potential of marring my paint, i'm gonna do.
+1 on obsessivedetail. Justin sells some quality products. Dont forget to pick up some microfibers.
Try a bottle of the Optimum Instant Detailer. Its the shiznit!

I did have a clear 3m bra installed on the front of the car, and I actually think it makes it harder for bug removal, but it will save my paint from rocks and small chips. I will lather up the whole car with more wax this year to help my cause! I usually go light with the wax on the bra, but this year i'll go heavy.
yeah, didnt think about the coin-op machines. with a good wax on there, it should spray the bugs right off, and you can hit the fenders and wheel wells at the same time to get any mud splatter or grime off.
I think No Rinse will work great for what you need it for. I always carry No Rinse with me on trips with a couple gallons of water, it makes cleaning the car up a breeze. Then just use a quick detailer or Spray Wax for some extra shine.

yea just stop by every few hours to spray it off at the coin machines, then once you get to your destination give it a good cleaning...no point in wasting time cleaning something good thats gonna getdirty in two miles
