Default Tinting my taillights

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how to tint the tailights on my 2005 mustang. I wanted to just use window tint if possible but it seems like the most popular way totint is to spray them with VHT Nite Shades. On Jegsit says on the application of the product that you just clean the lense and spray away...that's it. But from what I'veread online, there needs to be a clearcoat layer applied and sanding between coats. Sohow hard is it really? Can anyone write a tutorial? Or at leasttell me howyou did it. Thanks guys.

Its better if you take the lights out and have them painted with a dark candy color. Tint is the poor mans way of doing it. The tint will start to get scratches and peel over time.

At the body shop I use they do a pair for $50.00. I would have it done professionally done if you dont have the right tools such as the paint, 1500 grit sand paper,2000 grit paper, Porter Cable and polishes.

Just my opinion, do it this way and you wont be dissipointed.

Well window tint works for me because I am a poormanI ended up tinting them with window tint because I didn't get any input, oh well. I did call a couple of places around here and nobody does tinting on taillights. If I do find someone later down the line I will pay the money and have them done. On a sidenote, the tint I did looks sick, at least for now. I will take pics in the morning.

Here are the pics. They looked really good........until it hit about 85 degrees out, then they start to peel off. Now I know that I love the look so I'm gonna have to find somewhere in Oregon that will tint my f***ing lights. Lesson to self, spend the money the first time.

Ive heard bad things about the fitment with those. I ordered the VHT Nightshades from Jegs(wont ship until Aug. 30th) so I'm just gonna man up and do the work myself.

i have heard good stuff about the VHT. as long as your take your time and use it correctly it will look great. the tint looked good, i guess until it started peeling. haha. and im guessing that you are planning on going with black rims like your sig pic, may i suggest keeping the polished lip on them for a contrast between the wheel and tire.

Yeah I will post pics as soon as the VHT gets here (it's on backorder). As far as the wheels go, yeah I eventually want to get them powdercoated black, lip and all. I'm just not a fan of the black wheels with chrome on there too, I think I may be the only one lol.

call up your local paint distributor and have them put some dark candy mixed with clear in a spray can for you. Make sure you spray VERY so you get ZERO runs. 3-4 coats are needed for max coverage. Hit the light with 2000 wet sanding, buff and your set. Tell them what you are going and they will know how dark to make the paint. (30 bucks for 2 cans)

Your post gave me the itch to try it with my buddy. I'll post pics once we have the light install. Its an 05 gt. It came out great, the only problem was taking the light out.
