which grit sandpaper?

Default which grit sandpaper?

which grit sandpaper do i use so i can sand the car down to repaint it? it has alot of chips, a few dings and some rust. i have painted before but i used the wrong sandpaper last time and i had to fight with swirl marks. what do you recommend?

I'm not sure what kind of sandpaper you use but I am pretty sure if you are tryng to take off old paint for a repainting then you have to use a solvent

you use a solvent to remove the old paint.
if you're talking about wet sanding during the painting process then it depends on how much clear you have laid and what kind you're using. the numbers should be around 1500 and up
