Default Racing Stripe Removal

First time poster. Just bought my first Mustang........ an 05' with only 30000 garage kept miles on it. Beautiful car! Anyways, the previous owner put the horrible racing stripes on the car. Not only do they not match up, but they are cut like crap.

My question is this. What is the best way to remove stripes yourself? I have read many different ways to do it. Is a heat gun (used generously) and WD-40 the best option? Anyone have a better way that wont damage the original paint?

I have been a ghost on this site for months but cant find the info anywhere here. With all I have read and learned here from you guys and gals........this seemed the best place to get a solid answer.

Thanks for the help and I hope to be posting a bunch here.

Peace

if you use a hair dryer on low, you should be able to peal them off. I will take some time, but just dont get ahead of yourself and try to peal it to fast, because then you will either peal paint off, or leave sticky crap all over the car.

A hair dryer or heat gun will both work fine. You can use Goo Gone, WD40, or 3M adhesive remover to take off the residue.

Well, I used a Hair Dryer on low and started slowly peeling........soon realized they were vinyl stripes with some form of crappy adhesive used to keep them down. Unreal. Certain areas took forever.....most however were not even glued on. What a crap job the previous owner did.

Anyway, Car looks great now. I will post a few before and after pics here as soon as I get a soild day off. Thanks for the advise.
