try some quick detailer and a microfiber towel. that usually helps take off any leftover wax residue.

New hood? how fresh is the paint on your new hood?

But it's more likely that you have applied to much wax on and what your seeing is the smearing effect from it.

Usually the smearing will fade in a couple days or so, but you can do like ryan said and use some quick detail and a micro-fiber towel and try that if it does'nt remove it then go get you the meguiars smooth surface clay kit and clay your hood to remove the wax and start over with a fresh coat and apply a very thin application of your favorite wax and after it has had time to cure then remove with a clean micro-fiber towel slow and easy.

Hope that helps post back and let us know your outcome.

Thank you guys very much... It came off after a few go overs with detailer and the microtowel... Very irritating problem though. Yes the paint is brand new, I got it done less than 2 weeks ago.

You need and should wait for the new paint to outgas! never apply a wax or a sealant of any kind to fresh paint. Check with the painter for the guidelines because each brand of paint is different.

You can however apply a pure polish to a freshly dried paint.

Hope this helps

yeah, prob wasnt a good idea to wax so soon. the paint needs to cure and all of the oils need to come out of the paint. waxing will seal them in and you will have problems down the road. if i were you, i would wash the hood with dawn to strip all the wax off and wait a few more weeks before you put on another coat of wax. general rule is to wait at least a month before putting wax on new paint.

WHY WOULD YOU WAX FLAT BLACK?
WHAT I DID WAS WASH MY CAR AND SCRUB IT OFF.
THEN RE WAX THE RIGHT WAY.

woah...CAPS LOCK button is to the left of the "A" key. haha. but wax is more for protection than anything. wax isnt just for a good shine. flat paints still have a clear coat on them, and need to be taken care of just like any other color paint.
