Default hood protection

A couple of guys have mentioned some kind of clear thin film that you can put across the front end of the hood for some rock chip protection. They swear its almost invisible. I worry that it might peel, yellow or something awful like that. Anyone tried it?

i know exactly what your talking about. i saw a kid you had that on his newer Monty. He had a pearl white paint job w/ the clear layer of "stuff" over it. It is like a clear film of somthing. Looked awesome. never got rock chips, and you couldnt see it unless you looked super close.

call a local paint and body shop. i know it has to be painted on or somthn'

Its called an "Invisibra". Try a search on google. I've got one on my 2004 GT but it was there when I bought the car. Not sure where the previous owner bought it. As far as being invisible, it depends on the car color. My car is black and although you can't see the material itself (it truly is invisible) being a black car, you can see the line where the bra ends. This is mainly from not being able to get all of the wax residue off of the point where the bra meets the hood. If your car was white or a light color, it would be next to impossible to see it unless you're right up on it. For darker colors, it is noticeable but only where it meets the hood. It does what its supposed to do though. I don't have any chips on my front end and the car is three years old.

I suppose if I took half a day to really clean that line, it wouldn't be as noticeable but I haven't had the time to try it yet.

Thanks for the lead. I think I'll look into it. Rock chips are one of the main reasons I might park it through the winter (OK, salt too).

Click www.invinca-shield.com . It's made by 3M, a little pricey, but is supposed to be the best product.

Hey - Rob
I'd love to see the (non) picture... or at least hear your impression of the product. I can't stand the little ticks and scratches that seem to pop up. Couldn't have Ford made the primer black, and not white, so chips don't show as much? I always park in "outer orbit", how did that scratch on my back bumper appear!?

Has anyone in the forum had one of these covers for more than a year, how did it hold up?

but white primer makes the color "pop" more and be a better looking paint. the clear bras are really good products. it is too late forme to get one though.. i have a 99
