Default Is it possible?

Is it possible to get paint to stick to the nice flaky yellow underneath my paint...paint has flaked off in some spots and looks horrific. how did the paint look after you painted over it?

Are you painting over chipped paint? That is what is sounds like to me. If that is the case, you need to first sand that paint, wet sand it, then use a detail spray to get off any loose residue, and THEN paint in that area when it is completely dry.

It's located on front bumper, paint is already gone and the yellow is showing. So i guess my question is can you sand the yellow (fiberglass) primer then paint. The surface is kinda gritty and rough.

I don't see why not....I didn't realize it was on the bumper. You have to sand it with about 300 grit to give the paint and primer something to grab on to. I f I were you, I'd sand down the whole thing because if the paint fell off in one spot, there is usually more to follow. Make sure you have the paint matched by a pro or you'll be disappointed and you'll be doing it again.

Thanks for the help...It is a terrible paint job all around...I've went through spots where the paint is so thick i just pluck it off with my fingers. I def have to sand the whole thing down, trying to pump myself up for it!

make sure you put a flex agent in the paint that is on the bumpers and other fiberglass parts. if the bumper comes in contact with anything and tweaks even the slightest bit, the paint will start popping.
