Default How do I clean white racing stripes?

I apologize if this is a repeat question, I seached for a good 15 minutes without finding what I was looking for. I've had my 07GT for just over a week and am giving it a good wash and wax tonight for the first time. For now, I'm waxing right over the stripes, however, they are not clean. I washed the entire car but couldn't get the striped real bright white.

What do you all use on white or any color racing stripes to get them clean? Do you wax after you get them clean?

Thanks,
Nubby

I am assuming that these are the sticker style ones?

I would suggest trying to clay bar first then maybe trying an all purpose degreaser/cleaner or even a specialized acid solution.

Try using the clay first, most of the time that can take a lot of invisible and underlying dirt and grime out, and it also makes a wax job look even better. If that fails go to the cleaner solution and use sparingly and make sure you wipe all of the solution off.

you can pick up a clay bar kit which includes a microfiber, lubricant, and a couple bars of clay at any local automotive store.

Added I have done cars with these kind of stripes (i even have them in red) but i have never really had a problem with them being dirty and never have i cleaned white stripes. I have to see if there are any possible solutions outside of what i said, and ill get to posting up if i find anything knew. Other than that, those are the best possible solutions i could think of.

I would just use a polish on them. The polish should clean them up and get them looking new again. Then just top with a wax to protect them.

stripes norm dont need any special kind of cleaning..they clean when u wash the car...r the stripes just dull..? or does it look like their blotchy?..the vinyl they used might not have EVER been bright white,.....if ur stripes are looking hazy and blotchy then it sounds like they might already be goin bad.......id go with what Juzstang said polish em ,get some finesse or something with very very fine grit.....once they are clean u shud wax too..if u dont dust will cling to them....good luck

Yes, they are the vinyl decals. They just looked dirty even after washing them. It's nothing too noticable but when you look close up you can see they look a little dirty.

I don't know that a fine grit would work to polish them since it's just a decal. I'm thinking some of the stuff I used to clean my boat's gelcoat will work to get them clean. Was just curious what others with white stripes have done or used to keep theirs looking good.

Thanks for the replies,
Nubby

I use Optimum polishes and my OD Light Polish on vinyl racing stripes all of the time, these will get them looking good again.
