Default California Duster Scratching Paint?

I have a new 2010 BLK on BLK Mustang GT and after a week of having it I'm starting to notice fine scratch marks on the car. Not swirls. Kinda like cob webs and streaks. I Can't feel them with my nail which is good, and Ultimate Detailer is not getting rid of them. The car's way too new to wax? or is it time for a polish? Thoughts?

I have used a California Car Duster for years without a problem, but I also asked the same question on here recently, under 'Dust' in the detailing section. I sometimes think that it may cause small scratches, but nobody else seems to think so. I have heard that the dirtier your duster, the better. Good luck!

I highly doubt the duster caused them... probally your sponge... or whatever your using to wash the car... but you will never be free of fine scratch marks on black unless right after your wet sand or repaint the car... or detail with a buffer and rubbing compound... and yes the dirtier your duster is the better

one suggestion, I don't usually dust when there is a thick layer, as I get a little nervous about moving that much dust around. If the layer is thin, it comes right off with the duster, but if there is a lot, it seems like it moves around more, and could cause scratching. When it gets bad, give it a wash, you'll be better off in the long run.

Thanks 09droptop, I live in a new subdivision and there is a ton of dust from all the construction....I have been using the duster, but now I will just wash once a week and dust when there is a thin layer.

Thanks Everyone for their thoughts!!!!

Even though I use the California duster from time to time, I do have a suspicion that it scratches the finish lightly. Probably much more noticeable on black and dark blue colors.
