MEGUIAR'S HEADLIGHT KIT????
 

Has anyone tried the Meguir's Headlight Restoration kit? I have seen the right up on the forums on how to sand and buff your headlight to make them look better, but was wondering if this was worth as shot. Anyone have any luck with this? Thanks

Hmm, nope.. but I just used the 3M kit and REALLY liked it. The meguiars kit does not come with sanding pads unlike the 3M kit, which you really need if you want to see a substantial improvement. The sanding is effortless b/c it attaches to a drill. The only thing I did different was use meguiars plastx instead of the included compound just because I had some laying around, but I'm sure the included compound would work. The included instructions were nice too. The lights are still not perfect but look 100x better and much more clear. I picked mine up at autozone for like 15-20 bucks

It is ok if your lens are in fairly good shape. If there is a lot of oxidation or heavy scratches then don't waste your money. Stick with the 3M product as mentioned or have a body shop take care of it for you.

Thanks for the replys. I think Im gonna tackle this over the weekend. Hopefully they aren't too bad and this will work. I will look to see if I can find the 3M stuff and try that. Thanks again!

I just did my headlights last night. Store was out of the headlight kits. So I picked up the Meguiar's PlasticX and a random orbital and cleaned them right up. The kit would probably work better since it has the sandpaper. I also bought some 2000 grit wet/dry paper and may try that to it again see if I can get them better. But overall the PlasticX worked awesome. No more yellow crap.

It amazes me that with all the people on here who complain of bad headlight lenses, Ford won't fix this problem. I brought this up with the stealership with my 01 in 2004 and they said there is nothing they can do about it. Wasn't one of their marketing progams a few years ago that "Quality is job 1"? Well I guess they meant to say that "Selling crap is job 1".

I feel your pain. It is just not Ford though. All the plastic lens do this. Sucks for sure.

Oh I know that, the Freightliner I drive does the same thing. It just bothers me that a company knowingly puts out a flawed produt and basically tell you "We got your money, go take a flying leap".

I know what you mean, so much for putting out a quality product, to the OP I used the Maguire’s polish with some 2000 grit wet sandpaper and it worked fine, but wasn’t perfect I broke down an got some different ones.
