New Color
I have a 2000 V6 Mustang and am interested in changing the color from Gold to Blue. Most of the opinions I have seen are to not change the color because of the lower resale value and having to paint under the hood, inside the trunk and the door jams. I plan on keeping this car for at least a few more years which will make it at least 13 years old with at least 170,000 miles on it. I have a couple of questions on this:
1) I would like to have the door jams match the new paint, but I am not interested in how the inside of the trunk or under the hood looks. So would there be any other reason to paint the inside hood/trunk?
2) In a few years I would guess that the resale value would be less than $2000 with the ORIGINAL paint in good condition. So, how much could a NEW paint color reduce the value?

to answer your questions, you can pick and choose what parts of the car you want painted, but its gonna look funky when you open up your black trunk and its gold underneath. on a car of that age, a color change isnt going to make much difference in the price. but once again, if people can tell its been repainted then they are going to think something is fishy about the car (AKA its been salvaged and not reported on title).
to get a proper color change its going to cost you at least $4k. sure you can get a maaco job for like $500 or something, but its gonna start falling off in a year or so. there are so many black new edge v6's floating around, if you really want one then you would be much better off selling your car and buying one rather than painting yours.
