Default Painting trim?

Im painting all of the trim in on 91 convertible with black trim paint. Should I wet sand the last coat or just polish it with a compound? Or should I put a clear coat on it?
thanks

If you plan on painting the metal trim- you will need to sand it first before painting. If you plan on painting plastic I would sand and then use a plastic etcher/primer before painting.

Yeah I have done that im just wondering about the final coat. I wet sanded it with 2000 and didn't really like how it came out. Thats why i was wondering if i should just polish it with a compound instead for the final coat or clear coat it?
