Default Clear Coat Peeling?

My 04 Mach 1 clear coat on the two front fender panels is begening to peel off and Ford wants to charge me $800 to repaint the panels. I cant afford that at all and was hoping someone might now an alternative to fix, or ATLEAST prevent any further damage?

Quick question before you fix it, what kind of soap do you use to clean it? No point in spending all that money if your car's paint is just going to peel again.

My Father uses clear nail polish on his white 96 cobra. Not sure how its gonna show on your paint or even how safe it is but its kept his paint from peeling any more for the last 2.5 years or so.
