Use a leaf blower haha.
I have done it a couple of times to make sure my car looked as good as possible before I go to our weekly car meet here. Maybe it does or doesn't hurt the car, but I've done it and haven't noticed anything.

quick note, you'll be a lot better off asking detailing questions in the detailing section...
There are fairly long "dust mops" that have strands that you just touch over the car.
Most cloths are not large enough and you have to apply pressure to dust with them... That's where the scratches come from.
Use the duster mop and you'll be better off.
