Default adding color to **** shifter

Hello! Is there a method that someone here may have done and posted to add color to the recessed numbers and lines on the **** shifter? I have the 401A ball shifter. . .
Thanks!

just replace it, it will just wear off quickly if you repaint it

Even if I just fill in the grooved numbers and lines?? I was thinking a high quality urethane or similar...

yep, will still wear off..........how much is your hand on the shifter everytime you go to the store for bread? Besides it will just look cheap. Try it, what do you have to lose?
