MAC Prochamber or X pipe (hp)
I want more power in the mid range, I'd rather keep it off high RPMs. So I'm going to replace the H pipe with either an X or Mac Prochamber, as well as changing the exhaust from flows to Mags. Should I do X or The Chamber? Anyone go from X to the Prochamber?

In your power range I think you're going togain 12-15hp over a stock Hno matter what combination you choose. Both The X and the ProChamber should give most if not all of the12-15 hp. In Dyno tests we performed on fairly stock models such as yours, The Mufflers mentioned only made a 1-3 hp difference. We actually lost 2 hp when upgrading from FM 40's to a pair of DynoMax UltraFlows which have literally identical flow to Magnaflows. Go with the X if you want to keep theresonance downin the interior. Go with the Pro-Chamber if you want to attract the most attention.
It's bull, or something was severely wrong with that car.

Don't believe it, I've posted dyno sheets from Magnaflow & Flowmasters on the same 03 Cobra and the Magnaflow systemearned a hefty 20RWHP more.

Dan, I don't doubt that you got those resultsand I don't want to have us threadjack this topic but let's make sure we're doing the correct comparisons and make sure we're giving '95stealth some good advice. What was the exact combination? Our 94 GT with a complete 2.5" X pipe systemdidn't benefit from the extra flow supplied by a 'straight thru' muffler. He has abasically stock 5.0 just like ours. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against any of the 99% flow mufflers on the market, in fact I'm a strong proponent of them for mid to high horsepower applications. What I am trying to bring toour topic starters attention and other readers, is that you can't just take any Mustang, swap out a FlowMaster or any other 'performance' muffler and assume a 20 hp rear wheel increase. It's just not the norm.

I will post our dyno results inthis topicsometime this week.

Sure thing.

The exact set up was a Magnaflow catted X with Magnaflow mufflers VS Magnaflow catted X with Flowmaster 40 series on a 2003 Cobra, otherwise bone stock.

Something wasn't right with your dyno results, definitely not right. I'm going to assume the conditions were horrible or the car was ran too hard in it's first pull, there is no way a Flowmaster muffler is going to out perform a Magnaflow straight through muffler.

hmmm.... Different factors in our test..... 1. no cats 2. 94 5.0 302 motor. 3. Different design X.We did 21 pulls that day. The rest of the data was pretty consistant with past industry observations. We have more tests coming up.We'll keep on gathering data. However I can't agree with your statement; "there is no way a Flowmaster muffler is going to out perform a Magnaflow straight through muffler." I would agree with you if you said "There is no way a FlowMaster is going to out FLOW a Magnaflow straight thru muffler".There is plenty of supportive industrydata thatconfirms that too much flow can hurt low end torque depending on motor combinations.
