Default Fixing scratches

I have an 02 GT in Black. I don't know what they call it but the code is UA. How do I go about fixed a nice scratch I have on my drivers door? Do I just get one of those pens from autozone and fill in the scratch? Then mabey use some polish to smooth it out? I hate this scratch because it is so visible on my black door. Please help!

dont use a paint pen. it will still stand out. sand the scartch down and feather it out a few inches on each side and have it repainted. its the only way to make it look good

Let a shop handle the sanding. I would highly advise against a n00b taking sandpaper to his car.

You could hit it with some touch up paint, wet sand it, and buff it....but like Dan said....if you don't know what you are doing it could get pretty ugly.

if the scratch ain't bad or deep you can try mothers scratch remover, i had a few light scratches on my car and that stuff made it unnoticable. i applied it more then a few times to make sure i did a good job. lol

How deep is the scratch? Is it to metal? Primer? Just in the clear? The severity of the scratch will determine your bet course of action.

Sorry for calling it a scratch, its more of a gash! I see metal! I was driving down a two lane road and there was a guy in front of me about a car length in the right lane. He ran over what looked like the heat sheild off a muffler that was flat. The metal came up in the air and whacked my door pretty good. It all happend so fast I had no clue. I will get pictures when it is light out tomorow but it ain't pretty. Not to big of a gash, but a gash none the less.

if i were you, i would have followed that guy the entire way and made him pay for a new door!

as for your problem, i would take it to an autobody shop and have them look at it and give u an estimate
