It bolts to the battery tray and clamps the battery down. I don't have that year of car or I would post a pic.

Should be a bolt or bolt hole for a nut and bolt on the long side of the battery tray. This clamp bolts onto that bolt or area and goes into the groove at the base of the battery, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the bottom. Drop the battery into the tray, slide the anchor in place and bolt it down. It does not go over the top with a coat hanger. Although the other post about bungies is an alternate method! Maybe you bought the wrong tray. I replaced mine last yeat. Here is how my 65 bolts down. You will need the lip on the bottom of the battery for this to work, but this is how it came from the factory for the 65-66.

Sorry, I was going by memory on "the long side", but the principle is the same. A picture is worth a thousand words!

Bungie cord it is! Yeah my battery lacks the proper lip at the bottom for this part to work. I will make sure when I get a new battery that it will work. Thanks guys.

Bungie cords are way too redneck for me. That is like coat hangers to hold up your exhaust.
