Ideas, theories, thoughts, anything?
So, I get my new issue of Mustang Monthly in the mail today(woohoo) and spot an interesting read on pages 8&9. I generally skip over this section becuase it is ALL type(boring), but something made me read it today. Im assuming most of us are aware of the current "Trademark Wars" and how it is really hurting some of our Mustang centered business, but I never knew it was this bad. I'd suggest you all read this, becuase it just doesn't make sense to me at all. Like the author says in the article, it's like shooting your own soldiers. What is their reason behind all of this? It seems to me they are excersizing their rights, regardless of how much it hurts their company and public image(and that doesn't need any help nowadays).
Also, in the corner of that page is a small ad about new mustang bodies. There seems to be a bit of confusion still, but it looks like someone is producing Mustang bodies for restomodding. A part of me likes the idea of a flawless body to build off of, but what will this do to our REAL classics? If these become big, our REAL classics will become second class. I'd like your views on that, and apparently so would MustangPlus.
Thank you all!

Yes, but if you are a potential buyer and you could either buy a original that need work to it, or a new one, you'd most likely buy the new one. Just assuming these would go for sale, that would lower the market on originals.
Its confusing though since the whole separate body/VIN thing...

the repro body is around 12 grand starting msrp and the lines on some of the stamping of the currently sold camaro bodies are missing some key features but yes i think its a great idea esp for someone wanting an eleanor etc or something like the Ring brothers makes

i rather have a real mustang 6mustang6 but look at it this way alot of the 67/68 mustang fastbacks are selling for 10k or so and rusted to hell wouldnt you pay 2k more for a rust free straight body i would
They have been making street rod bodies for years. Think of it as a way to keep seeing old cars. Right now its estimated that there are more 32 Fords than Ford ever built in 32. Its a natural progression and good for the hobby to have a body available. Yes the price is stupid expensive, but that is okay too. As more of the wealthy baby boomer types spend the extra cash they have, it benefits us.. unless it just drives up the price on our project cars and the parts. Volume means lower prices, supply vs demand.
Of course you will be able to get an original cheaper since its from a private owner or even a car lot. That is also good for the hobby and the aftermarket industry. Just think, when those of us who are 30 something and younger are old and grey, the baby boomers will either be worm dirt or unable to drive because of poor eyesight and other health problems. That means the demand will be lower and prices will come down on alot of things, although it also means there will be fewer people to buy the stuff and less will be made. Well up to a certain point anyway..
Its a good time to be in the car thing.. as long as we can adapt to the fuel changes on the way it should get better in the future.. And you will be cruisin in a car that is almost 100 years old... or maybe not.. lol...
Either way, enjoy what you have right now, because yesterday wasnt so rosy now was it?

i had some friends at sema this year... and they checked out the body and they all think that there is no way that the body isas perfect as what they showed without some serious work. but they said that thebooth it was innever had a sign saying it was a ready to assemble body kit. we will see...im sure once they are readily avaliable some carshow on tv will do it

. Whoever owns that bottle needs to die and I see 2 hands that need cut off...
